a) Parrot Machine - Toggle recording a phrase with the spacebar, animates a little character!
a) using the volume level (get this by looking for a peak in the buffer) from audio input, make a form of interaction.
b) make a “volume” controlled switch (see for example, claudio’s automatic recording system). Use it to make some interesting work where sound is used as input, but noise is not.
* (FOR A & B!)Created an application that is like a little pinwheel, and only triggers spinning if the average magnitude of all the bands is high enough (a blowing sound accomplishes this!).
c) use the FFT example, and find sounds which have : (I had trouble capturing video and audio at the same time on this one ;_;)
– a very high frequency * GLOCKENSPIEL
– a very specific frequency * SCRATCHING A METAL THINGS TOGETHER
– energy in all frequencies * CAR KEYS
– very low energy in all frequencies * SCISSORS CUTTING
d) use the FFT as input to make a visualizer for audio.
a) Visual equivalent of granular synthesis (which can be occuring over time, or not) CLICK TO SEE.
b) Hook up the granular synthesis to a different form of interaction.
*Used the Nintendo Wii controller and the mouse where Mouse X controls the average frequency value, and the pitch and roll of the Wiimote control the average frequency spread and the average grain length spread, respectively. (DarwiinRemoteOSC is needed to try this example and is included in the zip file).
c) Make three specified sounds with granular synthesis.
a) create an example of waveshaping synthesis, using a lookup table.
b) create a non - left to right sequencer using any synthesis techniques.
*This is a sequencer that uses Conway's game of life to calculate the frequency. A random lookup table is generated for the wave every time the spacebar is pressed.
Make a sound story following these guidelines:
> Use no language.
> 30 seconds or less
> Avoid using any filtering or effects.
**Getting up, getting ready, eatin' food, walkin' in the rain -___-
a) Images as inspiration for sound creation
b) watch a lecture about physics and sound *DONE! VERRRRY INTERESTING!!!*
