7:00: Drawing and Analyzing Emotions

Each color is dependent on the velocity of your stroke and the angle of it. This is a study that analyzes your stroke velocity and angle to output a color. As an artist, you will probably keep using your favorite color over and over again in a composition. From there, you could total psychoanalyze your mind based on existing color theories...BUT this is simply a drawing analyzer and finding your favorite color.

(I have no idea if it will be done in time for class.)

7:00: Draw Until You Cry...

This took 1.5 hours on a very sad day when I received news from Thailand about a childhood friend. So I perhaps did not draw until I cried, meaning started melancholy-and-then-turned-tragic. I instead waited for the 'easy' opportunity of feeling blue and proceeding to allow a marker drawing to encapsulate 1) my mood 2) the story, and 3) the moment. (I chose fat markers to visualize the bleed better if any tear drops were to occur. The paper itself is rather light any type of moisture should have left a permanent stain. Can you see it? Part of the drawing is scratched off. Writing sometimes supports your drawing.)

Sharpie and Hi-lighters so you can see the teardrop better.

Class Details

Co-taught by Zachary Lieberman + Taeyoon Choi

This class investigates the curious space where drawing and computation meet. From the earliest moments of the computer, developers have been striving for intuitive and meaningful ways to capture and explore gesture digitally. Likewise artists - From Durer's drawing machine, to Sol Lewitt's infinite cubes and Moholy Nagy's imaginary structures -- have used computational method to transfer reality on to the paper and generatively reproduce elements of their drawing.
